Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026.

This policy describes what LakeSense collects, how it's used, and how to have it deleted. It applies to the LakeSense app and website (together, the "Service").

Information we collect

  • Account email. Sign-in uses a passwordless, emailed link/code tied to your email address. We don't collect or store a password.
  • Location. Your device's GPS position is used on-device to center the map and read your live depth under boat. A position is sent to our servers only when you request a recommendation near it, or when you submit a trip report at a location.
  • Trip and feedback reports. Species, outcome, location, and any notes or photos you submit after a trip.
  • Subscription status. Whether you're on the free tier or subscribed, and your usage against the free tier's monthly limit. Billing itself is handled by the app store, described below under Subscriptions — we don't receive or store your payment card details.

How your data is used

Your trip history and feedback personalize your own recommendations — which spots and techniques the app suggests to you specifically, based on what you've reported working (or not) before.

Your trip and feedback data is never shared with, or aggregated across, other users. Each account's history and personalization are isolated to that account. We don't sell your data, and we don't use your location or trip history for advertising.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, processed via RevenueCat. LakeSense receives your entitlement status (e.g. subscribed, free, grace period) from RevenueCat, not your payment details — those are handled entirely by the store you subscribed through, under its own privacy policy.

Data retention and deletion

You can request deletion of your account and all associated trip and feedback data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We'll confirm the request and remove your data.

Children's privacy

LakeSense is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if what we collect or how we use it changes, and update the date above.
